Attack of the 50 Foot Cheerleader

Attack of the 50 Foot Cheerleader is a 2012 American 3D science fiction comedy horror film. Kevin O'Neill directed it, and Roger Corman produced it. The cast includes Treat Williams, Sean Young, Olivia Alexander, and Jena Sims. It made its television debut on Epix on August 25, 2012.

The story follows Cassie Stratford, a science nerd whose mother was a cheerleading captain and sorority president at Iron Coast University. Cassie feels pressured to join both, but Brittany Andrews, the current cheer captain and sorority president, rejects her. While working in the biology building, Cassie and her friend Kyle develop a drug called Renew that enhances beauty. Cassie steals it and injects herself. She becomes attractive and makes the cheer squad after an injury opens a spot, but she then grows into a giantess as a side effect. Brittany discovers this and tries to seduce Kyle for the secret, accidentally injecting herself with a double dose and also growing. Cassie refuses the antidote and confronts Brittany at the stadium. During their catfight, Brittany grows even larger, but Kyle distracts her with a large taser, allowing Cassie to inject her with an overdose of the antidote, knocking her out. Cassie remains a giantess at the end. As Cassie and Kyle kiss, Brittany shrinks to a small size and is mocked by her fellow cheerleaders.

Roger Corman said he planned the film in advance, as with his 350+ productions. He told the Toronto Star he hoped to premiere it at Comic-Con in July 2012. He complimented Sean Young but said she was miscast because she looked too good to play the mother. Jena Sims, who played the title role, was Miss Georgia Teen USA 2007. During filming, Sims and Olivia Alexander promoted the movie heavily on Twitter and YouTube, sharing behind-the-scenes content. They accompanied Corman to Comic-Con in giant cheerleader outfits and also attended the 85th Academy Awards with him. The film was featured in the 2013 book *Crab Monsters, Teenage Cavemen, and Candy Stripe Nurses: Roger Corman: King of the B Movie* by Chris Nashawaty. The song "Attack Attack," sung by Olivia Alexander, plays during the opening credits. Alexander also wrote and sang "It's On" and "VIP." A music video for "It's On" was filmed on August 9, 2012, and is on her YouTube channel.
